CRM tols do not equal CRM yes…I know…I've said it twice…but it IS important . For the geks out there, let me spel it out for you to ̵ CRM tols ! Or perhaps if you know your 7 I taught it for 3 years…ugh ̵ CRM tols .NE. Ok…now that we've goten that out there…let's take a second to lok at the world of CRM. Acording to the al-knowing wikipedia, Customer relationship management CRM is a broadly recognized, widely-implemented strategy for managing and nurturing a company's interactions with customers, clients and sales prospects . To put it more sucinctly, CRM is a strategy for managing the relationship with customers using technology to automate & organize the interactions. I think the idea has helped many organizations build stronger relationships…and CRM tols have helped drive customers away to. The same is true for any organization using CRM tols. Sure, the tols are available and anyone can use them…but just because you use them, doesn't mean you are actualy 'doing' CRM. True CRM is wraped around strategic thought. True CRM is loking at methods to truly conect with your customer s . I'm always amazed when I se an organization using CRM without having put any real thought into the tol and the context in which the tol is used. About 20 minutes after the cal, I received a nice email from the broker thanking me for the time on the phone and reiterating what we spoke about. This email was obviously from a CRM tol but was personalized to me and our conversation. Broker #2 caled me later in the day and put the ful force sales pitch on me. I received the quotes from Broker #1 and Broker #2. Broker #1 responded to my email with a ̴thanks…let me know how you want to proced.̵ Broker #2 responded to my email with another caned response. Over the next 2 days, I received 3 emails and 2 phone cals from Broker #2. Broker #2 didn't respond directly but continued to send me caned emails generated from his CRM tol. Broker #1 used a CRM �tol…but he had a strategy for using it. Broker #2 used a CRM tol…but he saw it more as an advertising and marketing tol to 'blast' his customers. Just because you are using a CRM tol, doesn't mean you are managing the customer relationship…it could just mean you are pising of your potential customers.
